A .NET team that ships licensing for a living

We have shipped .NET since version 1.0 and worked in software licensing for over thirty years. We build and modernize software on that stack. We also do specialist work on the commercial side: packaging, licensing and usage metering. Most teams meet this work once. We do it every day.

What we do

Seven service lines, one stack

Everything below is .NET, the stack we build our own product on. The advice comes from people who ship it every day.

General software services

Cloud development

Building for cloud from the start, or moving an existing system there. Containerized .NET services, managed data stores, and a deployment you can reason about at 3am.

  • Containerized ASP.NET Core services
  • Managed Postgres, Redis and messaging
  • Production, staging and sandbox separation

Software engineering

Delivery capacity on .NET. Whole features owned end to end, or extra hands when your team is at capacity and the roadmap keeps growing.

  • Feature delivery on ASP.NET Core and Blazor
  • API design, REST and OAuth 2.0 / OIDC
  • Test strategy and CI that people trust

Legacy modernization

Moving older .NET forward while the business keeps running. Framework migration, seams cut into a monolith, and a deployment path updated step by step.

  • .NET Framework to modern .NET migration
  • Service extraction from a monolith
  • Dependency untangling and upgrade paths

Monetization & licensing

Monetization & packaging design

Turning a feature list into something you can sell. Which capabilities become products, what goes in which plan, and which licensing model fits each deployment.

  • Plan and tier structure, with boundaries backed by evidence
  • Feature-to-entitlement mapping
  • Migration path for existing customers

Licensing & entitlement implementation

Building licensing into an existing product safely. That includes the parts teams underestimate: offline activation, and what happens when enforcement and support disagree.

  • SDK or REST integration into a live codebase
  • Offline and air-gapped activation
  • Runbooks for the new failure modes

Usage metering & pricing telemetry

Instrumenting a product so consumption is measurable before you commit to pricing on it. Most usage-pricing regret traces back to metering the wrong unit, and that is far cheaper to fix beforehand.

  • Choosing and validating the billable unit
  • Quota tiers, thresholds and enforcement
  • Baseline reporting from before the change

IoT & on-premises licensing for industrial environments

Licensing for machines, controllers and software on a plant floor or in a customer’s own data center. These often run fully offline. We design the activation and lease model for that setting. We build it with the C/C++ library or the .NET SDK. We put an edge license service inside the network for devices that stay offline. And we make sure production keeps running when a license server is out of reach.

  • Per-device licensing keyed to a serial number or hardware identity
  • An edge or proxy license service inside the customer’s network, serving devices that stay offline
  • Offline and air-gapped activation by signed file, with usage receipts
  • Lease and grace windows sized for the plant floor, so work carries on when the network drops
How we work

Three ways to engage, depending on where you are

Discovery sprint

Two weeks, fixed scope. We look at what you sell, how it is deployed and what you can measure today. Then we give you a recommendation you can act on, with us or on your own.

Build

A retained engagement where we implement alongside your team. Your engineers stay on the product; we take the licensing, entitlement and metering layer.

Advisory

Monthly, low-intensity. A regular call, plus access between calls. For teams that have the skills in-house and want a second opinion at key decisions.

Why us

We have been doing this a long time

Revenusion is a young company run by people with decades in the field. Oclavex is our own product, built on the same stack we would bring to your project.

  • 30+ yearsin software licensing, pricing and monetization
  • Since .NET 1.0shipping on the platform since it launched in 2002
  • Since 2021building Oclavex as Revenusion
  • Oclavex is a multi-tenant .NET platform that we build and run. It uses ASP.NET Core, Blazor, PostgreSQL and Redis, in containers behind a reverse proxy. The cloud and engineering work we would do for you is the work we do for ourselves.
  • It runs as a modular monolith that also builds as separate services. So we have already solved a hard problem ourselves: moving a service out while the business keeps running.
  • Four complete demo applications are live right now: metered SaaS, connected devices, desktop seats and an air-gapped network.
  • The offline and air-gapped activation path is built and already running in Bastion, so your project starts from working code.
  • Most engagements end with Oclavex doing the licensing and the team doing the rest.
